Lorraine gets us uplifted for the start of the work week.
A packed show of Irish Country Music Stars and craic.
The Charity Board of Directors are pressing for the opportunity to be given a FM / DAB Community license and they have the support of Scottish and Westminster MP's, taking the case to Ofcom. We are aiming to be a full-time “local” radio station and bring a high quality community radio output to the Highlands. The station is run by a team of some 20 volunteers who give over 4000 hours per annum to work on and broadcast shows.
The key objective of the radio station is to always “stay” local, promoting local artistes, charities, organisations, businesses and events. Keeping the Highlands firmly on the map and promoting them both at home and abroad.
At this current moment, the peak airtime is between the hours of 5pm and 10pm (Monday to Friday), due to this being based on the majority of live shows aired, with the weekend also a peak time.
Daytime is currently supported by a Non-Stop Mixer played out in association with Inverness Leisure who air the station; footfall through the Inverness leisure facility sits at c.1m per annum.
Our regular listener logins range from 10,000 to 12,000 per month which is extremely high for even a well-established community radio station.
Although our focus is very firmly local to the Highlands, we have a wide-reaching audience from within the UK and across the world, giving our tag-line "To The North & Beyond" real gravitas. Many ex-pats tune in to the station at various times throughout the day across their own time zones commenting that the station helps to keep then connected with home.
More work has to be done and we are actively seeking Presenters to build our daytime show schedule, including engaging with the local communities, businesses and new teams to present. We are also engaged with Charitable Partners to work alongside the Radio Charity.
